First of all, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. I know that we sure did. We had lots of great family time and great food too.
For Christmas, Aaron and I got a Keurig Coffeemaker. How very stimulating (pun intended). Sorry, I just had to say it. I also got a great pair of trail walking shoes - or as I like to think of them, snake-proof shoes. Dad and I have been walking just about every trail Parkville has to offer and more.
It has been 4 weeks since surgery. I have been feeling pretty well back to normal other than after really busy days my back still gets a little sore. I can tell that I haven't gotten all of those bulky muscles that I used to have built back up yet. *Exaggeration* Anyway, I went back to work for the first time this weekend. I worked 6:00am-6:30pm both Saturday and Sunday. My back was getting pretty sore by the end of the day on Saturday. When I got home I was fairly zombie-esque from being completely worn out. On Sunday morning when my alarm went off to get up and get ready for work again, I seemed to lay in bed uncomprehending as to what that obnoxious sound was that was coming out of my phone. It took a few moments for me to come to my senses and realize it was my alarm and I was supposed to get out of bed. Sunday went fairly well other than the fact that we were completely slammed with x-rays in the ER. At least it kept me busy which I can honestly say I haven't felt for the last 4 weeks! It was great to finally catch up with my friends from Radiology, ER, OR and CVICU this weekend!
Results of this work weekend: My back was a little sore and my brain was a little worn out but I can honestly say that I had NO NEURO PAIN IN MY FOOT/LEG/THIGH all weekend. My feet ached (equally) from all of the walking which I would consider normal for anyone and everyone. I literally have not been able to say that for the last 4 years. It was also really nice to not have my patients asking me "Did you hurt yourself? Why are you limping?" Whew, what a great deal.
Well, time to wrap things up. I hope this post finds everyone doing well in the new year. I know I will be busy being back to work!
One more thing - Here is a cute picture of Sam with his new sock monkey that he got from Santa. Such a lucky dog....
